While our registered entity was founded in 1932, the family's proud legacy in traditional Indian ghee trading began in 1848 on the historic trading streets of Calcutta.

Brief History & Legacy

1848 to the Present Era

Though the business started in Calcutta in 1848, the family migrated to and settled in Varanasi later. The obvious reason being more direct, uncompromised access to the pure source for Sree Ghee — the rich buffalo milk of Uttar Pradesh.

Two generations later, in 1932, Ashok Chandra Rakhit, then at the helm of the business, formally registered the company under The Companies Act, 1913. Down the line, the company has diversified into the pristine natural honey trade and modern mechanised production of nutritious papad.

Our strength is that we are not a newly created brand attempting to establish trust from scratch. Several of our brands and products have been present in the market for decades and have developed multi-generational consumer recognition. Our objective is now to communicate this heritage more effectively while strengthening our presence across contemporary digital channels.
